about Naomi
Born and raised in Japan and now based in Los Angeles, I am an actor, writer, and singer. With an academic background in the philosophy of aesthetics, I draw on Japanese aesthetics and sensibilities in my work, contributing to cultural exchange through art in this city of art and outward into the world. I am trained in Method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
My work occupies a space at the intersection of conceptual art, philosophical inquiry, and intimate human experience. My strength lies in making the intangible—emotional tension, moral ambiguity, and subtle shifts in perception—visually and experientially perceptible, blending intellectual rigor with sensory richness, and contemplative stillness with playfulness.
In contemporary art and acting, my practice explores the quiet depth woven into everyday life at the intersection of philosophical reflection and sensory expression, addressing themes of simplicity, sincerity, the intricate structures of human intimacy, and the natural conditions of human existence.
